Film Favorite in Black and White January 2015

I have a special love for black and white. My adoration for black and white film was not love at first sight.  I didn't get it at first.  What is so special about black and white photography?  Because for one, seeing world in a scale of grays was definitely not intuitive to me.  Shooting on a black and white film made it even harder.  I was no longer given the opportunity to "try it out" by making the conversion in Photoshop or Lightroom.  I had to nail it in camera.

After 6 months of shooting nothing but black and white film, I soon realize that seeing gray scale in this colorful world is a trained skill.  I don't speak for everyone here, only myself.  I had to learn how color, texture, light and many other elements of design that can ultimately affect my final black and white image.  In addition, I learned how film's characteristic and density play an important role during the process of making a photograph.  It was then that I truly saw the beauty and came to the appreciation of the black and white film.

Here are my favorites black and white film images.  Congratulations to you all!
