Hello there and welcome to the last month of 2013! Did your grandmother ever talk to you about time? Mine did, but I never really got what she was talking about when I was a dewey-faced youngling. I get it now.
What my grandmother, and probably 5 million other grannies said about time is this: The older we get the faster time goes.
Now, that I understand what she meant, my inner kitten cries while thinking of all of the everyday-this-and-that-moments I let pass without being fully present. Although I know being present and cognizant of right now' is sometimes (most-times) unrealistic and unnatural, I still pine for this super-power, which I seem to mostly experience in retrospect--this is not at all useful.
So you know what I do? I shoot stuff. And then, from time to time, I revisit those images of normal, unspecial days, and I always uncover what about those days was indeed special. I suppose you could say I become present retrospectively, which no doubt slows the acceleration of grandma's time machine.
Since we're at the end of 2013, I'm planning to take some time and go through my Instagram feed and be retrospectively present. Maybe there's something yet to be discovered or remembered about the time or people in my photographs, or maybe this will be the time that I will learn how to be fully present in the days ahead.
And with all that Ladies & Gents, please enjoy the lovely images below and congrats to today's featured photographers!
