Christina Mallet on Instagram: Your Photos and a Non-Academic Study on the Novelty of Summertime in Small Humans.

Happy Thursday Y'all!

Is it still summer there?

Here in Seattle, tis, although the end is in sight.

The ceremonial end  (aka: school starting) is about 178 hours away, not that I'm counting or anything.

I thought we should have our own Little Bellows ceremonial end of summer, and so I set out to do an ode-to-your-summer-photos post, but it was about 100 photos too long.

And so, Sandra and I decided to run our ode to summer, featuring the photos from the #littlebellows Instagram hashtag pool, in 2 or 3 parts.

Once we settled that, I got to the task of making e-piles for the posts and I noticed something really interesting.

Did you know that one can trace the level of summer exhuberance in your photos of your kids?

When summer was new it it was party time, all day, every day, in the #littlebellows hashtag pool.

Swimming, beaches, more swimming, frolicking, rolicking, popscicles, ice cream, lens flare.

And then the 'Summertime Sadness' (thanks Lana Del Rey) started to slowly creep in.

Now, there are a ton of beautiful examples of boredom; restless lounging; cute but crabby faces; staring; a lot of staring, napping, aimless wandering.

And with that, I present to you, this first installment of Summer 2013.

Be sure to check in on Monday. :)

Cheers,

Christina
