Ashley has a way of taking real life, and painting it with such drama and authenticity that it hits you as it should. miraculous, sensitive, fragile, with such beauty and truth. I am a new but huge fan of her subtle and brilliant eye for light and storytelling. Her portraits of her children are always in a context that is real, sometimes messy, but never a distraction. Their world is part of who they are. the light isn't perfect, but she makes it dance, she makes it magic. I imagine that years into the future, her children will be able to look straight into a mirror, with no trace of time. Ashley's photos stay with me. they rest, they settle, they take root. they feel like the beginning of something special and insightful, and i am so glad to be able to share them.
