Wendy Laurel: Surfboard, Color & Fun-Filled Family Session

I'm always happy to get a submission in from Maui photographer Wendy Laurel.  I don't know if it's her great use of color, or the fact that her images are consistently whimsical and  fun.  All I know is that looking at them makes me feel good! Thank you for sharing these with us Wendy!  And ya... super great dress!

From Wendy:

"This is The Beck family shot in Lahaina, Maui. Leiko Beck is a photographer on the Big Island and when she brought her family to Maui for vacation she contacted me for a photo shoot. I know Leiko from Film Is Not Dead.. she was at the Maui workshop which was held at my home in Lahaina.

They were a ton of fun to photograph and Leiko wore the most amazing dress from J.Crew. I went out and bought it myself I loved it so."

From Cat:

As usual, Wendy Laurel's work is full of color, details, spontaneity, and fun. One thing that I'm noticing as a theme in her work is the love in a family, particularly between mom and dad. So many families are vying for photos of their children while  young, and understandably so. However, with so much attention on the little ones, we ignore the source of their existence: the relationship and bond between two people who love each other. Add to that the stress of raising children, and it's easy to see why marital happiness is at it's lowest when children are young. But Wendy's habit of shooting mom and dad in affectionate moments is a step toward a positive remedy for that phase of child rearing.
Of course, Wendy catches just as many exchanges of love among the children. Just adorable! Thanks, Wendy!
